Milein Cosman was born on 31 March 1921 – Haydn’s birthday, as she delighted in pointing out. To celebrate her centenary in 2021, her love of music and her remarkable gift for drawing musicians in action, the Cosman Keller Art and Music Trust has published a 2021 Calendar of her portraits of some of the musicians she encountered in the 1940s and 1950s – including Igor Stravinsky, who was (apart from her husband, Hans Keller) her most frequent subject. 2021 also marks the 50th anniversary of Stravinsky’s death, one week after Cosman’s centenary.
